I have tried planners.

I have tried lists.

I have tried chore charts, calendars, meal plans, routines, sticky notes, apps, notebooks, and probably seventeen other systems I have already forgotten about.

And somehow, no matter how organized the system looked when I first made it, eventually it started to feel like one more place telling me everything I wasn’t doing.

So I did something a little ridiculous.

I built a village.

Not a real one — although honestly, give me enough flowers and a tiny cottage and I’d consider it.

I built a little digital village where the different parts of our family life each have their own place.

And I absolutely love it.

Welcome to LivingJamie Village

The idea started because I wanted my home organization system to feel less like a spreadsheet and more like somewhere I actually wanted to go.

So instead of opening an app and seeing twenty boxes yelling at me, I walk into a little village.

There’s a Schoolhouse.

There’s a Chapel.

There’s a Greenhouse.

There’s a Market.

There’s a Camper.

There’s my Cottage. (My website and projects)

And in the middle of it all is the Tree — our family command center.

It sounds a little silly when I say it out loud.

But it works.

The Tree Is Where Real Life Happens

The Tree is basically the heart of our home system.

When I open it, I can quickly see what matters today:

• appointments
• dinner
• chores
• homeschool
• Scripture
• things I need to remember

I don’t have to open six different apps or dig through a giant planner.

I can glance at it and go, “Okay. That’s today.”

And then I can move on.

Which, as a mom with three kids, is very important because there is usually someone asking for a snack before I have even finished reading the screen.

The Schoolhouse Is for Homeschool

Our homeschool life gets its own space.

The Schoolhouse holds the things I need for lessons, planning, nature study, books, and whatever rabbit trail we are currently wandering down.

I wanted homeschool to feel like part of our family life — not a corporate office I clock into every morning.

So the Schoolhouse feels warm and cozy and a little bit magical.

Honestly, that makes me want to use it more.

And if a system gets me to actually use it, I consider that a win.

The Chapel Is for Faith

Our faith is a huge part of our home, so I wanted it to have its own place too.

The Chapel is where Bible study, prayer, reflection, and family faith can live.

I love having a separate space that feels quiet and intentional.

Instead of Bible study being another item on a giant productivity list, it feels like somewhere I go.

That little distinction matters more than I expected.

The Market, Greenhouse, and Camper

Then there are the fun places.

The Market is where creative ideas and printables can live.

The Greenhouse is for growing ideas and projects.

And the Camper is for memories, adventures, and the things I want to remember later.

Every place has a purpose.

That is what keeps the whole thing from turning into one giant pretty-but-useless digital dollhouse.

Cute is good.

Useful is better.

Cute and useful?

That is my sweet spot.

Why I Think This Works for Me

I realized something while building all of this:

I don’t hate organization.

I hate organization systems that make me feel like I’m managing a company instead of a family.

Our life is not a business.

It is messy.

There are toys everywhere sometimes.

Someone needs help finding shoes.

Dinner is late.

Homeschool gets interrupted.

Laundry multiplies when nobody is looking.

So I wanted something that could hold the mess without making the mess feel like failure.

The village gives everything a home.

And somehow, that makes all the ordinary parts of homemaking feel a little more lovely.

Would I Build This for Other Moms?

That is actually the question I keep thinking about now.

Because every time I open the village, I think:

I wish other moms could have something like this.

Not my exact system.

Not my exact chores.

Not my exact homeschool.

But their own little village.

A home.

A Schoolhouse.

A kitchen.

A planner.

A place for faith.

A place for memories.

A place where all the pieces of family life could live without looking like one enormous task list.

I don’t know exactly what that would look like yet.

But I think it could be really fun.

And if you’re reading this thinking, Um, yes. I would absolutely organize my life through a tiny cottage village…

Then we are probably the same kind of person.
