To the Blogger Who Feels Like Giving Up: Here’s Why You Shouldn’t

Blogging can sometimes feel like being a single woman in a pink dress surrounded by a sea of blue outfits. (Which, for the record, isn’t a great way to blend in.)

You’re doing your thing, putting your heart out there, but you feel like you’re the one person dancing off-beat at a party where everyone else knows the moves.

Honestly, I get it. I sometimes wonder, “What’s the point?” With millions of blogs out there, does my little corner of the internet even matter? But here’s the thing: these feelings of doubt and insecurity? They’re super normal.

Every blogger (whether they admit it or not)has probably looked at their screen and thought, “Is anyone even listening?”

Let me share a few reasons why I (and you!) shouldn’t quit on this journey just yet.

1. Your Story Is Unrepeatable

Don’t be afraid to be the pink book on the shelf.

No one else has lived your life, walked your path, or sees the world quite like you do. Whether you’re sharing the day-to-day joys of homeschooling, faith-driven parenting, or the trials of your latest baking experiment (looking at you, sourdough starter 👀), these things matter.

They matter because you’re the one telling them. And there are people out there who need your perspective, even if they haven’t found you yet.

2. You’re Meant to Reach Someone Out There

Ever read a blog post and felt like it was written just for you?

Think about those times you were comforted by a stranger’s words online. Someone, somewhere, is looking for exactly what you have to say. I love the idea that maybe, just maybe, someone’s praying for encouragement that your words can deliver. Your blog post could be someone’s answered prayer. 🙏💕

3. Growth Is a Marathon, Not a Sprint

Think of your blog as a plant (and no, not the kind that’s already died twice this year). 🌱

Every post, no matter how small, is like a little seed that might grow into something meaningful. Even when it feels like nothing’s happening, you’re actually building something valuable, word by word. Trust the process, and give your blog the time it needs to bloom!

4. Every Successful Blogger Has Faced Doubts

We tend to imagine that famous bloggers and influencers have it all figured out. But guess what?

They, too, were once nobodies with zero readers. They worried about the same things we do! They just kept going. They wrote when they felt like imposters, and they hit “publish” even when they wondered if anyone cared. So remember, you’re in good company on this journey. 🖊️✨

5. You’re Learning as You Go, and That’s Progress

Every blog post…

Every little layout experiment…

Every typo you didn’t catch until after hitting “publish” (we’ve all been there), is teaching you something. You’re building skills and creating a foundation that’s making you better with each post. Even if it’s a little wonky at first, the only way to get better is to keep creating. 🎨

6. You’re Here for Connection, Not Perfection

Blogging isn’t just about racking up pageviews. It’s about connection and impact. Even if you only reach one person, you’ve still made a difference. One genuine connection is more meaningful than thousands of anonymous pageviews. Success doesn’t have to mean “big” to be big. 🥂

7. Remember Why You Started

When all the doubts start crowding in, go back to the beginning. Remember that spark you felt about sharing your life, your faith, or your creativity?

That reason is still there, still valid. If you’re doing this because it feels right or meaningful to you, then that’s your purpose, and it’s worth sticking with.

Many bloggers feel exactly this way, and reading their journeys has reminded me that I’m not alone. Posts like Creatorpreneur Diary’s guide to handling self-doubt as a blogger and Caitlin Houston’s insights on overcoming self-doubt offer great advice on avoiding comparison and embracing your unique voice. Sometimes, seeing how other bloggers have navigated these feelings can be the encouragement we need to keep going.

8. Ask the Lord

On days when blogging feels lonely, and doubt clouds my mind, I try to remind myself that I’m not walking this path alone. Each word I write is an opportunity to glorify God, to share His love, or simply to connect with another heart. When I feel small or invisible, I turn to prayer, asking God to guide my voice and to use my work—even in ways I may never see. I trust that He has a purpose for this blog, a purpose for me, even if it touches just one person who needs it. And that trust, that faith, is what keeps me coming back, even on the days when I wonder if it’s worth it. 🙏❤️

A Little Pep Talk 🥰

If today’s one of those “what am I doing?” days—(that’s me today!)

That’s okay! Doubt is just part of the journey. If you’re putting yourself out there, feeling vulnerable, and hoping your words resonate—that’s brave. It’s actually incredible. Don’t let the size of the ocean make you feel small. Your blog, your voice, and your purpose have a place here.

So keep going, even if you’re the one bright pink dress in a crowd of blue. Keep writing, keep sharing, and keep being unapologetically you. Because you’re exactly who someone out there is hoping to find.

This is exactly how I felt when I woke up today. If you’re feeling it too, leave a comment or a like to let me know I’m not alone! And hey, maybe we can remind each other that every word we put out there has a purpose—even on the days we doubt it. ❤️

Love,

Jamie Lynn
