I whispered a prayer last night through tears.
Not poetic. Not powerful.
Just, “God, we need a job. I’m losing hope.”
We’ve been praying for months. And still… nothing. We’ve got two toddlers, a one-month-old, and no clear answer. No open doors. Just silence. And I’ll be honest — I’m struggling to stay strong.
If you’re in a season like this, you’re not alone.

When the Bible Feels Flat and God Feels Silent
I want to connect with God. I want to feel something when I read the Bible. But between the diapers, the dishes, and the discouragement… it just feels dry. Like I’m showing up, but no one’s on the other side of the line.
Maybe you’re feeling it too?
Let me share what God is gently teaching me — not through booming voices or fireworks of faith — but through tiny moments of grace in the middle of our mess.
1. God Welcomes My Honest Prayers
There’s no spiritual gold star for pretending to be okay. When I read the Psalms, I see raw, gritty, unfiltered prayers. David cries out, “I am worn out calling for help” (Psalm 69:3). I feel that.
If all you can pray is “Lord, help,” that’s enough.
God hears desperation. He honors honesty.

2. Faith Isn’t Measured by Emotion
This one hit me hard: Just because I don’t feel God doesn’t mean He isn’t near.
Emotions come and go, but God’s promises are steady.
“Even when we are faithless, He remains faithful.” – 2 Timothy 2:13
Just opening your Bible, just whispering a prayer while wiping faces — that’s faith. That’s beautiful, brave faith.
3. Scripture Can Be Simple — And Still Powerful
When I feel disconnected, I go small.
One verse. One quiet moment. One simple question:
“God, what do You want me to hear today?”
I use this 3-step reflection:
- What is this verse saying?
- What does it tell me about who God is?
- What’s one thing I can hold onto today?
And if I don’t get some big emotional moment? It’s okay. I still showed up. I still fed my soul.
4. The Silence Doesn’t Mean God Has Left
I’m still praying for that job. I’m still asking for answers.
But more and more, I’m learning this:
God’s silence doesn’t mean He’s absent.
His delays don’t mean denial.
He’s just not finished yet.
And in the meantime, He’s teaching me to trust in the quiet.
5. A Free Printable to Encourage You
I made this for me — and now I want to share it with you. A one-page reminder to tape to your mirror, tuck in your Bible, or read during those hard mornings.

I hope it whispers truth to your heart the way it’s starting to whisper to mine.
One Last Thought
If you’re in a season of silence, let me say this:
You’re not weak.
You’re not doing it wrong.
You’re not being punished.
You’re growing roots in the dark.
God sees you, mama. And He’s still writing your story — even if you’re still stuck in the messy middle.
Let’s hold onto hope, even with shaky hands. 💛
